Executive Director – Assisted Living

United Methodist Homes is in search of a dynamic and organized leader for the Executive Director position at one of its Hartford County assisted living communities. UMH is a mission-based organization that operates using a relationship-centered philosophy. We believe that by building strong relationships between residents, families and staff that we can provide the highest level of care and create an enjoyable living and working environment.

The Executive Director will provide management and leadership of the day-to-day operations of the community while contributing to the achievement of community goals which support UMH’s strategic plan and mission. The Executive Director must be a dedicated, competent and compassionate individual who will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading, managing and mentoring a team of committed department managers and staff
  • Maintaining budgeted census by conducting tours, follow up and community outreach
  • Continuing a culture of customer service
  • Ensuring quality and guiding performance improvement and innovation
  • Managing resources to meet and exceed budgeted NOI and other financial performance indicators

A B.S. degree in gerontology, social services, business or a related field plus a minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience including supervision of staff in assisted living, senior housing or services for the elderly is required. Direct sales, marketing and outreach skills are essential. Housekeeping Attendant

United Methodist Homes, an organization of senior living communities committed to a mission of providing relationship-centered care, is currently seeking a full time housekeeping attendant. This is a 40 hour per week position – 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Qualified candidates must possess excellent verbal communications skills. Must be able to relate to the elderly population. A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must have experience in floor care/carpet care including stripping, finishing, scrub and recoat, floor buffing, carpet spotting, wet extraction, bonnet and upholstery cleaning. Must be able to move heavy items.

Security Guard

United Methodist Homes is currently seeking an experienced part time security guard. Responsibilities will include responding effectively to residents’ calls for aide, performing minor maintenance tasks (light bulbs/batteries), making rounds and patrolling the campus to ensure the safety of the residents and staff. Must possess a Guard Card and have a valid CT drivers’ license and clean driving record. Experience and flexibility to work 2nd and 3rds shifts. Must have a high school diploma and the ability to speak, read and write English.

Cook/Supervisor - Prepares food according to planned menus and oversees staff as needed to ensure proper workflow and attractive presentation of meals.  Oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations in the food service department.  High School Graduate, culinary school, food service certification required in addition to 5+ years of progressive experience including supervision. 

Dining Service Aid - the qualified candidate will perform a variety of duties as assigned for food preparation and service and the maintenance of dietary equipment and supplies.

Certified Nurse’s Aide

United Methodist Homes, an organization of senior living communities committed to a mission of providing relationship-centered care, is currently seeking experienced CNA’s for our new assisted living and memory care neighborhood (Lifestyle Transitions) and our skilled nursing facility (Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center) on our Wesley Village Campus in Shelton.

Qualified candidates will provide and assist residents with individualized care needs and work closely with the interdisciplinary team to support independence, dignity and quality of life.   C.N.A staff will be required to encourage our residents to remain as independent as possible and will also be responsible for one-to-one and small group activities.

A High School diploma or equivalent is required as well as a current Connecticut nurse’s aide registration. For our memory care unit, previous experience working with dementia/Alzheimer’s/memory care residents and interest in recreational programming a plus.

Available 16 hour shifts for Memory Care Neighborhood includes every other weekend and holiday rotation. 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Available 32 hour shifts for Bishop Wicke include every other weekend and holiday rotation.11 p.m. – 7 a.m.; 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.; 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Per diem C.N.A. opportunities available for all shifts. Must be flexible.
